The Magic City Lions welcome
Nicole Swartwout into our club on
April 20, 2010
 
Nicole Swartwout was born and raised in Minot, ND  She is a graduate of Magic City High
School in 1994 and Minot State University in 1998.  Nicole received her degree in Deaf
Education and Elementary Education. She then continued her education at Lewis and Clark
College in Portland, OR where she received her Master's degree in Early Childhood Special
Ed.  Nicole then worked from 2000-2004 as an Early Intervention Specialist in the southern
suburbs of MN. From there, Nicole spent two years abroad working as a civilian contractor for
the US Army in Vilseck, Germany.  She again was in the role as an Early Intervention Specialist
working with American families of children with developmental delays and/or disablities, ages
0-3 years old. Nicole then moved to Washington DC where she worked for one year at the River
School, a private Oral Deaf Education program.

Nicole is currently employed by the ND School for the Deaf.  She is part of NDSD's Outreach
Team,working as a Parent-Infant and Outreach Specialist. Nicole has been working the last
three years here in North Dakota.  Her office is at Minot State University.

Nicole is married to Shawn Swartwout and has a son, Reino(16 months) and a step-son, Jagger
(4 years)
